If you consider yourself a true fan of Hip Hop, African American Culture and African American History, you should check out TV's One's UNSUNG on Digable Planets. This group is criminally underrated and underappreciated. Before The Fugees, you had Digable Planets (Butter Fly, Ladybug & Doodlebug) who made amazing music with a message. DP started more on the Jazz tip with their 1993 debut album Reachin, but took the social awareness displayed on Reachin to another level, on the follow-up album Blowout Comb in 1994. Not many artists or groups in my opinion have two albums back to back that are this great. The sad part is Hip Hop History hasn't been as kind to DP as other 80's and 90's artists. These few words are to encourage my readers to go back on Youtube and check out many of their classics tracks. Yes, they are much more than Rebirth of Slick. The lyrical ability of Digable Planets along with the production stand the test of time and is refreshing for older fans who enjoy social awareness within Rap Music.
