Ok, this will be short and sweet. After Black Thought totally destroyed a Freestyle on Funk Flex, the Rap World has been going crazy. The definition of "Freestyle" has been dissected and people have different interpretations. For me, a Freestyle is totally "Off Da Dome" in that moment. The lyrics have never been written down and your boys can't be your hype man as you spit your rhymes. A lot of MC's are spitting written rhymes which is cool, but its not a freestyle to me. In the late 90's, MC's started going to the Radio Stations to spit "Hot 16/Bars". They generally came with pre-written verses so they would be sharp during their performance. I get it. You don't want to damage your brand. I personally appreciate MC's having fun and spitting straight off the top of the head. What are your thoughts? Peace - Tony
