Well, I heard this rumor a few years ago but I thought it was fake industry gossip. Yet here we are, in the mist of what could become legendary or the biggest disappointment ever. Jay-Z has finally confirmed the existence of a joint album between him and his wife, Beyonce. Now, they have been featured on several songs together over the years so its not like this is totally foreign. Jay-z recently did a an interview with The New York Times' Magazine where he revealed the creation of a collection of songs between the two and how they actually came about. “We were using our art almost like a therapy session. And we started making music together,” he said. “And then the music she was making at that time was further along. So her album came out as opposed to the joint album that we were working on. Um, we still have a lot of that music.” The Beyonce and Jay-Z joint album rumors started shortly after the release of his 2013 project Magna Carta Holy Grail. Detail, who worked with Beyonce in the past revealed back in 2015 that he was privy to some of the music. However, it never ended up surfacing, and instead, we got two more solo albums from hip-hop’s most influential couple. I honestly forgot about this potential project.
Elsewhere in the interview, Jay discussed Kanye West, another person he made a joint album with, and the status of their relationship after a bit of conflict between the two. “I [talked to] Kanye the other day, just to tell him, like, he’s my brother. I love Kanye. I do. It’s a complicated relationship with us,” he said. “[W]e’re both entertainers. It’s always been like a little underlying competition with your big brother.”
Now to he honest, I wasn't a fan of Watch The Throne or the R. Kelly Albums as total projects but they did create a few dope songs. I don't recall seeing any type of release date at the present moment. If this album hit the streets, the internet would break and the tour would shatter records. We will see. Peace - Tony Hanes
