Yeah, I know. You probably think I'm joking with this title but it true. Snoop Dogg (Calvin Broadus), who was once known as a "Gangster Rapper" from Long Beach California has decided to move in a new direction in regard to his music. Snoop has decided to release a Double CD (32 Songs) that will be a Gospel Album. I heard the rumors months ago and I honestly thought it was a joke. I heard him mention it on an interview but again, I didn't take it serious. Well, the album titled "Bible of Love" is less than 2 months away.
If you visit YouTube, you'll see a few new songs and videos from Snoop's upcoming album. I just watched the video "Words Are Few", which is set in a Church. Earlier I listened to "Blessing Me Again" feat. Rance Allen which is shockingly, a very good song. There is also the song "You" feat. Tye Tribett that gospel lovers might appreciate. The chorus and choir sound really good. I can't lie, it sounds as if Snoop is serious about this project. Snoop will also headline the 19th Annual Super Bowl Gospel Celebration outside of Minneapolis.
Snoop Dogg is one of the few Rappers who has transformed and reinvented himself several times over the years. Starting his career with Dr. Dre with "Deep Cover" and The Chronic in 1992 leading up to a TV Show with Martha Stewart. I mean, who else can do this? Who else can see success on so many levels and extremes? I laugh when I watch the video "Sexual Seduction" and honestly can't imagine another hardcore Rapper attempting this type of song. As for the album "Bible of Love", if anyone can pull it off Snoop can. He appears to be serious about it, not trying to make a mockery out of his faith. We love saying people grow and change so this is no different here in my opinion. I can't judge the man, I will wait and see.
